“I live in Nessebar”
The initiative “I live in Nessebar” started in 2008. It has been organized for the young people and its aim is to create responsibility and respect for the problems and values of the municipality and the town of Nessebar.
The initiative reflects one of the main priorities of the municipal administration, namely the preservation of the Old town as a cultural heritage monument.
The young people in the town take part in the events as volunteers. The events are planned in accordance with the festive calendar, the holidays and the daily engagements of the students. The purpose is to educate the young people to accept their tasks regarding the preservation of the cultural heritage of the town as a permanent and developing responsibility and not as a campaign.
The municipal administration, the school management, the museum and the children centres are the partners in the initiative „I live in Nessebar”. The program of the events is made according to the age of the children in the different groups. The three-year experience proves that “I live in Nessebar” is a message with a certain meaning:
“I live in Nessebar” means self-confidence to live in that town.
“I live in Nessebar” means pride to be a heir of the people who have made that town a world cultural monument.
“I live in Nessebar” means responsibility to protect the wealth of that town through the time.
The parents and the elderly citizens are engaged in the problems of the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of Nessebar as well. Their support for the children’s participation in the initiative motivates them to say: “I live in Nessebar” too.
The most interesting events of the initiative are:
“Excellent students” At the end of the school year the excellent students from all municipal schools go on a yacht trip. The yacht cruises along the coast of Old Nessebar and the students enjoy the beauty of the town they live in.
“850/350” The young Nessebar designer Maria Bogdanova presented her first collection named after the dimensions of the peninsula which are 850/350 m. The collection includes 43 garments representing churches, houses, parts of the fortification wall, the amphitheatre and other historical and cultural sites in Nessebar. The idea of the Municipality is to use the costumes for official events.
“Nostalgia for the Old City”, an exhibition of photos and cards of the Old town which have been in the family albums and archives. The exhibition was organized on the occasion of the anniversary of Nessebar in the list of UNESCO.
“Ancient Nessebar” The initiative aims to attract the attention of the audience and mainly the young people to the museums. The museums work with extended hours, free entrance is provided.
“Nessebar, ancient and young”, a competition in knowledge on the cultural and historical sites of the town. The teams of competitors ”discover” the medieval churches of Nessebar.
“Exhibition” of children’s pictures and drawings.
“On site” Groups of children visit the excavations in the Necropolis of Nessebar.
“On site” The tour guides introduce the tourist routes in the town to the students.
“To preserve Our Town Together” The members of the municipal security unit teach the students how to keep the order at the cultural sites.
“Scholarship for Gifted Children” in the name of Zhana Chambuleva, an outstanding archaeologist.
“Tourist Exhibitions” Nessebar municipality takes part in tourist exhibitions in the country and abroad with photos of the Old town, its churches and houses.
“Queen of Nessebar” A unique project which shows the talent and the potential of young and charming girls who were born in Nessebar. The beauty of our town is in the beauty of our sea, our manners and traditions, our children. The queen of Nessebar will be an active participant in the campaign of Nessebar municipality for preservation and presentation of the cultural heritage.
