OBLIGATIONS OF HOTELIERS AND RESTAURANT KEEPERS:
• Provide tourist services according to the categorization requirements
• Carry out activities in an officially categorized establishment
• Display in a visible place by the entrance to the establishment the categorization sign and the information bearing the name and the resident office of the company and the person in charge as well as the hours of work.
• Observe the Bulgarian legislation regarding the duration of stay of foreign tourists on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
• Put in a visible place near the hotel reception and in every room pricelists of the services on offer.
• Provide separate food and drink menus reading the selling price and the weight in grammes.
• State clearly the prices in order to avoid misunderstanding.
• Issue a receipt reading the date and time of sale, the kind of service sold and its price at all times.
• Enter into contracts with licensed tour operators and tourist agents only.
• Keep a hotel guests register book certified by the municipal authorities.
CHARACTERISTICS AND TYPES OF TOURIST ESTABLISHMENTS
1. ACCOMMODATION PLACES
1.1. Hotel
It is a free-for-all building or functionally connected buildings with a minimum of 15 rooms and one catering and entertainment establishment at least. In settlements of historical, archaeological, ethnographical or archaeological importance the minimum number of rooms could be 20 % less.

- residence hotels – luxurious accommodation, unusual architectural and creative decisions in the outside construction and the façade (residences, old buildings, cultural monument buildings).
- club hotels – serves tourists with definite interest
- balneohotels – with a balneological centre for medical treatment
- spa hotels – four or five-star hotels with a spa and wellness centre
- wellness hotels – four or five-star hotels with a spa and wellness centre
- business hotels – with onsite facilities for business meetings, conferences, presentations, seminars, interviews, etc.
